Introduction

Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education (PAGE) is an umbrella organization working towards building an enabling environment for gender equity in education, employment, rights, and leadership.

PAGE acts as a platform for stakeholders, donors, policymakers and practitioners to come together and address the gender gap in education in Pakistan and devise solutions to overcome the broader socio-economic challenges faced by the girls.

PAGE aims to create a reality of gender equality, one where more women are entering the education system one where women are earning more qualifications one where women are participating equally in decision making and one where women are acquiring leadership roles by building more schools, training more teachers, and improving coordination among relevant departments, elected representatives, donors, civil society organizations and communities (including parents).

Vision

To transform the environment of girls’ education in Pakistan by bringing cultural and policy reforms through an ecosystem that can offer a world-class education system that adapts to ever-changing global skills needs, and builds respect, dignity and positive future perspectives for girls in Pakistan. We will be the catalysts for systematic innovations to help girls’ education meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education- PAGE expresses its deep concern and outrage over the recent spate of attacks on girls' schools in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. These acts of violence, targeting institutions crucial for girls' education and empowerment, are not only criminal but also a blatant violation of the fundamental right to education enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.

In a joyous ceremony held at IMSG G-7/2,  Islamabad, the Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education (PAGE) celebrated a momentous achievement—winning the UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education 2023. The event was attended by key dignitaries, including the honorable Minister for Education, Ali Madad Sindhi, Federal Secretary Mr. Waseem Ajmal, Representative UNESCO Ms. Cristina Menegazzi, Secretary General PNCU Ms. Razia Ramzan Dossa, PAGE partners, parents, and students.

PAGE's three-day training program on the School Health and Nutrition Programme (SHNP) concluded successfully this week!Formal school teachers from Districts Quetta and Chaghi, Baluchistan, participated in this program, co-facilitated by esteemed trainers from the Provincial Institute of Teacher’s Education (PITE) Balochistan.We were deeply honored by the visit of Ms. Sana Jamali (Senator), Director of Schools, Director of BOC, and the PIE team to the training venue on July 1st.During the visit, Ms. Jamali and the delegation expressed their appreciation for the combined efforts of PAGE and VSO under the Multi-Year Resilience Programme (MYRP). They highlighted the importance of this collaboration as a "wonderful kickstart" for improving education in Balochistan. ✨Through this training, PAGE, in collaboration with the Baluchistan Education Department, aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to implement the SHNP effectively.Ms. Sana Jamali commended the dedication of all parties involved, particularly the participating teachers.
