‘Performing Poems and Creating Art are two of the Most Favorite Activities of Students at the STAR School Tej Garh, Lahore‘
Tej Garh is home to some extremely indigent residents and their children go to STAR school Tej Garh, established by PAGE. The school educates, grooms, and empowers children especially girls of the area. Most of the deprived families live in rented homes and a major chunk of their earning is utilized in paying rents. Hence, they are left with minimal resources to cover their day-to-day expenses.
STAR school student Malaika is a 5th grade student. She is passionate about becoming a teacher when she grows up. The STAR school teacher Mobiha, shared that Malaika performs tremendously well in academics and in extracurricular activities.
Laiba is a STAR school student whose mother has passed away and her father was not willing to send her to school. After a lot of counseling and awareness-raising by the PAGE team, Laiba’s father has allowed her to come to school. Since her mother passed away, she takes care of her younger siblings, her home, works at people’s houses, and comes to school as well. Her dedication to education is remarkable. Laiba not only works hard herself but also encourages her siblings to perform well in the classroom. Laiba told the STAR school teacher that she dreams of becoming a doctor one day.
STAR School students such as Malaika and Laiba are a motivation for the rest of the students.
Our ambassador Zartashia Iqbal has taken the initiative of fundraising for this school.
