ESTABLISHING 42 TEMPORARY LEARNING CENTERS (TLCS) FOR FLOOD-AFFECTED CHILDREN

Implemented by the Pakistan Alliance for Girls’ Education (PAGE) and funded by the International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF), the project spans 8 months, from December 01, 2022, to July 31, 2023. The initiative focuses on establishing 42 Temporary Learning Centers (TLCs) to provide education for children affected by floods, offering a swift and impactful response to mitigate the impact of the disaster on their education and well-being.

PROJECT DELIVERABLES

  • Resume Education

    • Establish and run 42 TLCs in 6 flood hit districts of Balochistan and Sindh province to resume education
    • Identify 1,260 children whose education was suspended due to the floods and reconnect them with learning activities
    • Provision of supplies (for teacher and students)

    • Engage children in sports activities

    • Teachers’ training on education in emergencies (EiE), child-friendly teaching methodologies, life skills, child mental health and well being
  • Engage and Uplift Communities

    • Establish Village Education Committees (VECs)
    • Training of VECs on record keeping
    • Develop a comprehensive and achievable community rebuilding plan including education
