As a testament to its promise to promote literacy, the Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education – PAGE has been honoured by the Library of Congress as the winner of the 2023 Literacy Awards Program Successful Practice Honoree. The winners will be formally announced on September 08th, 2023 on International Literacy Day by the honourable Library of Congress.

Established in 2013 by the Library of Congress, USA, the Literacy Awards Program recognizes organizations in the United States and abroad that provide exemplary, innovative, sustainable and replicable strategies to promote literacy and reading. This year the Library of Congress has recognized Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education – PAGE and two other organizations from across the world in recognition of their efforts towards promoting literacy, especially female literacy, and reading.

Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education is a leading advocate for Girls Education in Pakistan and has established 170 Star Schools since 2016 to promote quality education. It works in collaboration with different partners, donors, and government departments to ensure access to primary education, holistic development of girls, and equal learning opportunities for children from marginalized communities including refugees, transgender, disabled, and orphans. PAGE has been able to achieve this honourable award because of our collaborative approach and support from our development partners and the Government of Pakistan.

Winning the distinguished 2023 Literacy Awards Program will have a profound effect on PAGE’s efforts to garner more support and highlight the challenges faced by girls in the quest to pursue quality education in Pakistan.
