11 October – International Girl Child Day was celebrated in full zeal as students and teachers from formal and non-formal educational centers gathered at Islamabad Model College, Punjgran to promote girls’ empowerment and fulfillment of their human rights while also highlighting the challenges that girls all over the world face.
The event was attended by students from Star School Muslim Colony, Star School Jab Chajaar, Star School Thanda Pani, Star School Khana Dak, Representatives from Federal Directorate of Education, Alight Pakistan and Moawin. The idea for today’s celebration was to bring non-formal school children to formal school setup and give them an opportunity to perform on stage and boost their confidence and morale. The students took part in different acts highlighting challenges the girls face all over the world. The event was concluded with the signing of national anthem and snacks were distributed among the attendees.
