In response to the devastating floods of 2022, which affected nearly 33 million people in Pakistan, PAGE, in collaboration with IDRF, launched the “Education in Emergencies” initiative to restore education in seven flood-hit districts of Sindh and Balochistan. These regions, already grappling with underdeveloped education systems, especially for girls, saw renewed hope through this intervention. In Phase I, PAGE established 42 temporary learning centers (TLCs) that catered to 1,283 children, guiding them through Packages A to C, paving the way for their transition to lower secondary education. Now, in Phase II, PAGE and IDRF are committed to ensuring the continuity of learning through the operation of 36 Star Schools across the targeted districts. The initiative has also resumed education in two government schools in District Naseerabad, advocating for and achieving the deployment of government teachers subsequently handing over schools to School Education Department.
