PAGE’s First Charity Gala Dinner in London – UK
PAGE’s first Charity Gala Dinner took place at The Saphire in Croydon – UK on the 09th of March, 2018. The Gala dinner raised just under £35,000 in one evening, which was a remarkable achievement, considering it was the first event in the UK.
The Charity Gala Dinner was organised by Mrs Nadia Bukhari, an academic pharmacist at UCL School of Pharmacy and is one of the first ambassadors of PAGE in the UK, to mark the International Women’s Day alongside fellow ambassador, Mr Kashif Minhas; both highly committed ambassadors who are passionate about girls’ education in Pakistan. Amongst the distinguished guests was the director of the Pakistan High Commission, Dr Luqman Masood, who endorsed and supported the charity’s work and spoke to the audience regarding the importance of educating girls in Pakistan.
Nadia’s response to the fantastic amount raised in the evening –
We are absolutely astounded by the response tonight. These funds will help our older girls complete their education to matric level (UK GCSE equivalent). We have a 2-year fast track programme for girls to complete their secondary education. We are very grateful to everyone who donated and supported us tonight.
