Fun Run to Celebrate International Women’s Day
What better day to raise awareness of Girls Education then the International Women’s Day. PAGE organized a Fun Run at the beautiful Faisal Mosque Islamabad on the 8th of March, 2018 to celebrate the day and raise awareness regarding the current status and importance of Girls Education in Pakistan. A lot of people from different backgrounds i.e students and professionals came out and took part in the run to show their solidarity towards the cause. All distinguished guests shared their views on girls education and signed their commitment to the promotion of female education. All the guests then participated in the fun run on Shah Faisal Avenue.
Among the notables were Senator Sitara Ayeaz, Senator Mohammad Ali Saif, Former Speaker of the National Assembly Faisal Kareem Kundi, Dr.Saima (PPP),Second Secretary British High Commission Gavin DeCosta who took part in the run along with his wife. Also present were PAGE ambassador Mrs. Nazia Hamid and Mrs. Kanwal Shahuzab and Aim High Role Model Miss Hifza Marij.
The event was also attended by girls of Star School who belong to Afghan refugee community and out of school girls who dream of continuing their education. It was good to see everyone gathered at a single platform and highlight the gender disparity that still exists in terms of education and the gap that needs to be filled.
