Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education Establishes 22 Non-formal Education Centers at the FDE Schools in Islamabad Capital Territory

[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”6″ sortorder=”36,38,37,35,27,25,26,24,19,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,23,28,29,30,31,32,33,34″ display=”basic_thumbnail” images_per_page=”50″ number_of_columns=”4″]PAGE, a partner organization of the Educate a Child Program has successfully supported the first phase of the opening of non-formal education centers for out-of-school children (OOSC) to be run at the government school buildings after the regular school hours. The Educate a Child program aims at enrolling one million OOSC across Pakistan and is run through a collaboration of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Education Above All-Qatar, Alight Pakistan, JICA and PAGE.

The scope of Star Schools project in partnership with Federal Directorate of Education includes resource mobilization, capacity building of local communities and teachers, and accelerated learning program at the primary level. PAGE is funding 22 Star Schools in phase-one to enroll Out of School Children, especially girls between age 6-16 in the Capital Territory.

The first Star School under this program was established in IMSG G-7/2 and was inaugurated by the honorable Minister Mr. Shafqat Mehmood in the presence of donors, parents, teachers and students. The ceremony was also attended by the Chief Representative of JICA Mr. Shigeki Furuta, Alight Pakistan Program Director, Dr. Tariq Cheema, PAGE Executive Director Fajer Rabia, Moawain Foundation Chair, Admiral [R] Asif Sandila and Ministry officials.
