[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”22″ display=”basic_slideshow”]Nine out of ten girls are Out of School (OOSC) in rural Balochistan making girls and women the biggest victims of illiteracy in the territory. To combat this grave situation PAGE has inaugurated Star Schools at Baloch Abad and Killi Chiltan, Quetta. The Schools are set up as a partnership between PAGE, AlightPakistan and technical partnership with JICA under Educate A Child (EAC) program which is the country’s largest intervention for Out of School Children (OOSC), bringing One million children of primary school age into schools with special focus on Out of School Girls.
At least 22.8 million children are Out of School in Pakistan in which Balochistan is home to the highest proportion with 70% of children being deprived of their basic right to education. The Star Schools set in the territory will impart education to Out of School Children (OOSC) by inducting them into a fast track learning program and equipping them with basic literacy skills.
